The Sharperson Heritage Museum:
In a small
town south of Columbia, South Carolina is a small town namely
Orangeburg. This town is of great significance, because my
grandparents were born and raise there. My grandparents Lila
and Johnnie Sharperson purchased land at a time when most
colored people were not able to purchase land. They purchased
the land for $100.00 in 1938, and it is
approximately 2.5 acres of relatively flat land. For my thesis
project I chose to do an African American Museum in
Orangeburg, South Carolina in honor of my ancestry to reflect
upon the many contributions that my family have made in this
county.
